Bitcoin.com Wallet has announced on the official Bitcoin website that it has achieved a major feat, with 2 million of its wallets downloaded since it was released in August 2017. Bitcoin users have steadily created their wallets since the release of the multi-currency wallet seven months ago. The wallet is designed to store Bitcoin Core (BTC) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) in a non-custodial manner. They also added that the developers of the wallet have plans to add more features to the platform very soon.
Two Million Wallets Download in Seven Months
Interest and increasing demand have resulted in thousands of users downloading the Bitcoin wallet weekly since it was officially introduced in August 2017, culminating in reaching the 2 million mark this week. Users can easily download the multi-currency wallet on mobile or desktop using any of the main operating systems such as Windows, Linux, Mac, Google Chrome, iOS and Android. The wallet gives the users the privilege of storing their private keys themselves. This simply means that the Bitcoin holders control their wallets and not third parties. No one else has an access to your coins.
Not long ago, the wallet added a few more additional features to the client’s interface to make it more user-friendly. For instance, the Bitcoin.com wallet is one of the seven wallet providers that are compatible with Bitpay’s Payment Protocol, which makes it quite easy for Bitcoin.com Wallet users to pay Bitpay invoices. Besides, the wallet now makes use of Shapeshift’s API to offer Shapeshift capability. As a result, it is now possible for users to swap BTC for BCH or the other way around, within the interface of the wallet. In addition, multi-signature wallets are enabled, thereby making it possible to split keys between more than one device / user for better security.
Demand for Bitcoin Cash Has Doubled Wallet Usage
The owner and CEO of Bitcoin.com, Roger Ver, is thrilled about the prospect of the company’s flagship product. According to Ver,
Usage of our wallet has doubled in less than three months as demand for Bitcoin Cash continues to grow worldwide. With this, we are seeing an increase of industry support as well as merchant adoption on websites and retail venues. We are working hard to consistently roll out new features and improvements that add to the user experience of the Bitcoin.com Wallet.
