Blockchain Capital Raises $150 Million; Takes Total to a Quarter of a Billion
Blockchain Capital IV, the fourth round of fundraising for the leading crypto-focused Venture Capital firm, has raised $150 million dollars. This now takes the total assets to $250 million.
Ploughing its Own Furrow
Blockchain Capital continues to be a leader in the crypto world. This fourth round follows an ICO venture fund from April 2017 – the first of its kind. Bart Stephens, the co-founder, had this to say:
As pioneers in the blockchain sector, we have been on the front lines and in the trenches with our portfolio companies building a new crypto ecosystem…You’re going to see us continue to invest globally in the leading crypto companies, but also kind of the next generation of entrepreneurs and sectors outside of financial services. We’ve made investments in healthcare companies, in logistics companies, in identity management. To date we’ve seen a lot of focus on financial services and we really see that broadening.
Hot on the heels of the exciting news that they reached their hard cap, Blockchain Capital have also announced the promotion of Spencer Bogart to partner, and the addition of Jimmy Song to their team. Song brings valuable experience from his time as a Bitcoin core developer. This extra money and the expansion of their senior team is certainly an indication that more investments will be coming soon, and firms will surely be hopeful that the firm adds to its current portfolio of 73 companies in the near future.
