Thailand’s Central Bank (Bank of Thailand) has announced that it working on a digital currency. It expects the first phase of a proof-of-concept trial in the first quarter of 2019.
A Finnish millionaire was approached by nine suspects in June 2017, who convinced him to send 5,564.4 Bitcoin to their accounts for investment purposes.
The SEC Secretary General said that out of these 50 ICO projects, "it remains uncertain whether all of them will be given operating licences to raise funds".
The Thai government now plans to develop laws that will regulate and tax cryptocurrencies.
The Central Bank of Thailand has banned banks from involving themselves in cryptocurrency transactions, citing fear of possible outcomes from the largely unregulated industry.
